Don't you just love the kind of freedom associated with concepts when they are thought up of without any of the restrictions of the real world? Want to make a concept of a smartphone? That's easy, assuming you are using some sort of arc reactor equivalent technology that means your smartphone need not be charged throughout its entire lifetime. Well, a certain Tad Orlowski has come up with the Willie bus concept that he hopes will be able to change city landscapes in the future.
The innovative feature that distinguishes ?Willie" from other conventional buses is the design of the side elevations, which are made of transparent LCD screens. This technology is already in serial production and application in different parts of the world – the transparent screen may at any moment function like a typical display unit, incorporating even touch control functions. Today, the city bus can be transformed into a mobile billboard displaying advertisements or film clips in the most attractive parts of town or provide passengers with additional information and entertainment such as route plans, weather reports, press and TV coverage as well as tourist information presented at bus stops in an eye-catching way.
As the video at the source shows, the bus' orgaric frame is specially contorted into all sorts of shapes, so as to create "an impression of restless energy attempting to cut through the unblemished surface of the glass." The glass in this case is actually a screen. How this can be leveraged is by enabling digital advertisements, which can be rotated and updated on a frequent basis.
